Dear Commanders and PAOs,

You are cordially invited to the 2010 North Central Region Public Affairs Academy.

This year's academy offers something for the new and experienced CAP PAO and PIO. We will be offering the following training:

PAO Basic Course (Course Content Updated for 2010) The Public Affairs Officer Course is a 2 day course that is designed to present to new and experienced PAOs the basic information and tools needed to succeed as a Squadron Level PAO. It also allows PAOs to network with their peers and with senior PAOs from their wing, region and national headquarters.

The target audience for this course is squadron, group and wing PAOs, their commanders and cadets serving in a Public Affairs function. This course would also be of value to Recruiting and Retention Officers.

FEMA's G-289 PIO Awareness Workshop (New for 2010) This course will orient the participants to the public information function and the role of the PIO in the public safety/emergency management environment. Additionally, this training will prepare participants for subsequent training to further develop their PIO skills.

The primary audience for this training is CAP Public Affairs Officers and CAP Public Information Officers.

A secondary audience for this training includes individuals who would benefit from a general understanding of the emergency public information function. This audience would include members with responsibilities that would necessitate their working with PIOs or the news media during an emergency incident such as Incident Commanders and CAP Corporate Officers.

Wing/Region PAO Workshop (New for 2010) New for 2010 is a 1 day workshop designed to equip a CAP member with the basic tools and information to begin service as a Wing PAO or Region Director of Public Affairs.

The target audience is Wing and Region PAOs, persons aspiring to serve as a Wing or Region PAO and CAP Commanders at all levels.

The fee for the course is only $30.00. This includes all program materials, a continental breakfast each morning and snacks during the course. Online registration will open on 1 May 2010 at www.ncrpao.org

More information on this course including lodging and meal options will be available at the academy website www.ncrpao.org  on 1 May 2010 or by contacting Major Al Pabon at al.pabon@mncap.org  .
