The Public Affairs Officer Basic course (PAOBC) is a 2 day course that is designed to present to new PAO’s the basic information and tools needed to succeed as a Squadron Level PAO. It consists of the following modules:

• The New PAO's Orientation (taken before Course Participation)

• Planning for Success

• Press Release Basics

• The Squadron Newsletter

• Websites and Evolving Technology

• Community Outreach

In addition there are presentations and discussions  on the following topics:

• Cadets and Public Affairs

• Updates from NHQ/PA

• Becoming a better PAO

• PAO Professional Development

• Preparing for Inspection

• Crisis Communications

• The PAO as a Staff Officer and CAP Member

• The Future of CAP Public Affairs
