Specialist Awards

SPECIALIST AWARDS are for members or units who did an exceptional job in performing in their specialty at the unit level. The Specialties eligible for recognition are:

Nominations can be made by going to the online form here.

To be nominated for a Specialist Award the member must be enrolled in the specialty track and hold the duty position for the award being nominated. In addition for members enrolled in the Moral Leadership Track, the member must be endorsed as an MLO by the Chief of the CAP Chaplain Service.

Awards are reviewed by the relevant Wing Director/Staff Officer. The Director selects one nomination (or can make his own nomination) and forwards to the Wing Commander (thru the Awards Chair) for his approval.

Some Directorates have guidelines for the award of Specialty Awards in their area.  Questions about these guidelines should be made to the directorate concerned.

Nomination Tips:

1.      Provide as much detail as possible regarding his performance in the specialty. List significant accomplishments and goals achieved.

2.      Describe how this member’s performance has impacted the unit and community.

3.      List what major activities the member has participated in.

4.      Describe how the member has prepared for serving in the specialty and what experience he brings to the unit and his job.

5.      Remember that less detail is not more. The more detail provided allows the director and commander to see the whole member.
