Civil Air Patrol
Assessing Flooding in Central Iowa
Colfax, Iowa – “Photos from the CAP flyover provide local responders
with critical information to help them make decisions based on potential
flooding,” said Joyce Flinn, from Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency
Management Department. “Partnership with Civil Air Patrol provides us
with a valuable resource that can provide critical information in both
response and recovery.”
For the second time in a week the Iowa Department of Homeland Security
requested assistance from Iowa Wing Civil Air Patrol to perform photo
reconnaissance, this time in Colfax, Iowa, to assess flooding caused by
recent storms.
The aircrew was able to deliver over eighty photos of the flooded areas
to the State Emergency Management officials.
