Good Evening,
Members from the Iowa Wing flew four more long-distance sorties this
morning and afternoon. Aircrews continued to perform photo recon on
critical infrastructure throughout eastern and southeastern Iowa. In
addition, we’ve now been tasked by the federal Environmental
Protection Agency and the Department of Natural Resources to search
for hazardous materials such as propane tanks, fuel leaks, etc in
the flood zones.
Wing and Squadron members
continue to staff the State's Emergency
Operations Center and the Linn’s County
Emergency Management Agency.
From a public affairs perspective, Iowa's
Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division (HSEMD)
has granted CAP “all access” to photos
we’ve taken on their behalf for additional news releases,
CAP presentations, etc.
National HQ has posted the Senator’s news
release in the national website along with sending it to the
Associated Press to bring further attention to CAPs mission in
supporting the HSEMD.
Press releases have been issued to Iowa Public radio as stated above
and contact is being made with Iowa Public television along with
CAP Public Service Announcements.
At the time of this writing, more tasking is expected on Tuesday 17
June.
