Update from Capt Chris Colvin, IAWG/PA
Today was another day of long sorties
(four mission related sorties and one aircraft maintenance sortie).
Focus continues to be on critical infrastructure, HazMat concerns along
the flood zone, monitoring flooded areas and areas in which the water is
beginning to recede. The number of photos provided to state and federal
officials now exceeds 1,200.
Members from the Wing, Cedar Rapids Senior Squadron
and the Easter Iowa Cadet Squadron (EICS)
continue to man their respective posts at the State
Emergency Operations Center and the Linn County
Emergency Management Agency.
We have one aircraft returning from the Flight Encampment in Nebraska
which will be put into service as soon as possible.
In conjunction with the Department of Agriculture, aircrews were tasked
to fly in search of livestock that may be stranded on high-ground.
Members from the EICS worked in conjunction
with the Red Cross today handing out water and clean-up kits in a
staging area.
There is mention in the Charles City Press that CAP
provided airlift to Senator’s Harkin and Grassley visit to the area last
weekend. Click on the link below.
