30 June 2008
Update from Major David Miller, MOWG/PAD
- With the demobilization of the Lincoln County EOC and stabilization of
flooding in north St. Charles County, Missouri Wing has stood down all
ground teams and aerial photo reconnaissance flights effective today.
- The last air sorties were flown yesterday, 29 June 2008. SEMA has
requested a halt to current air operations to evaluation the photos
taken. SEMA has been very pleased with the quality and quantity of
photos, ease of online review, and speed in obtaining needed recon
information. Further flights are expected but aircrews remain on stand
down at the moment.
- More than 2,000 digital photos were taken during 30 air sorties.
- Total volunteer numbers and man hours served for the 13 day period of
17-29 June 2008 being calculated and will be reported separately.
- Last CAP update forwarded to SEMA Situation Report.
- PAO photos of Missouri flood relief efforts will be posted soon to
Picasa for ease of access by all.
- Article in preparation for CAP News Online and for submission to the
CAP "Volunteer".
- Continue to work closely with Maj. Al Pabon, NCR PAO, who is preparing
an article on mid-west flood relief efforts for the next issue of the
NCR newsletter, "North Central Region News".
- Working with Lt. Col. Larry Kuban (St. Louis Comp. Squadron 1 and
Group II Assistant PAO) on articles on flood relief activities of local
cadets and senior members for local, smaller circulation, media outlets
such as newspapers.
- This will be my final formal "Flood PAO Update". Any further updates
will be intermittent and based on any new activities.
