Update from Col Mike Beason
Commander, South Dakota Wing

The South Dakota State Office of Emergency Management has requested CAP to fly over the Moreau River (north of Hwy 212, between Gettysburg and Mobridge, going west), looking for ice build-ups on the river that might cause
flooding. On the way home, they'll drop south to Cherry Creek, which flows into the Cheyenne River, and look for ice/flooding there also.

This mission was successfully completed and we were tasked to return today to carry representatives from the Sioux Tribe over the flooding.

The state also asked us to fly a separate photo mission to search for flooding on the James River, from the NE border to the ND border. We plan for that to take place on Saturday, flying out of Sioux Falls.
