While much of the focus
is on the movement of the water to the North, the Fargo CAP
Squadrons are continuing to fly. We had three flight ops
today ranging from the Southern to the Northern state
boundries, as well as missions along both the James River
and Sheyenne River valleys. The heavy snowstorm last week
has put a significant snow load on the top of water, and
only today did that snow start to melt.
We are expecting a dramatic rise in Fargo river levels on
the Red River early next week as this water pushes into the
various tributaries. To help officials keep tabs on this, we
covered many of the critical areas, taking pictures of
targets of opportunity.
Attached are two images. The first is South of Lamoure, ND
where the James River is over 30 times its typical width.
The second image shows water flowing over the I-29
interstate near Oslo, MN. Oslo has been completely cut off
by flooding and is currently only accessible by air.
