The Grand Forks mission base of the Civil Air Patrol is ceasing operations for the day due to night fall. Operations will continue at first light Friday morning with more aerial imaging missions laid on in support of the flood situation in the north eastern area of North Dakota and the north western part of Minnesota.

Members from three states have come together in support of the flooding in the area. The Civil Air Patrol is completing aerial imaging requests from the State of North Dakota. The images are downloaded to a web site that can be accessed by State officials to aid them in the assessment of the flood levels in different parts of the state.

The websites are public sites and can be found at http://tinyurl.com/nd09flood  and http://tinyurl.com/cap09flood .

Major Darlene Benjamin from the Hutchinson Squadron of the Minnesota Wing said, “It’s hard to take pictures of the river outside its banks when you can’t find the river banks!”

She when on to say, “There is a lot of water out there, more than we can take pictures of!”

Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force and has three main missions; Emergency Services, Cadet Programs and Aerospace Education. CAP is a non-profit, volunteer organization with approximately 60,000 personnel nationwide; CAP performs 80% of the ground search and rescue conducted in the United States.
