14 members of Northland Composite Squadron responded when called by Beltrami County Emergency Services Manager to assist in sandbagging a residential area next to the Mississippi River east of Bemidji, MN"

The team fresh from their work sandbagging in the Fargo area, were well prepared to help with this project.  Cadet Staff Sergeant David Helgager commented, "this was easy because of what we learned about sandbagging in Fargo".  1LT Robby Sandberg again led the group in a successful mission that resulted in grateful homeowners and County Staff members. "The cadets work a sand pile much like an ant colony said Sandberg.  "They all know what to do and how to keep the sand moving."

Cadet Staff Sergeant Kristin Schrader recorded both the Red River Flooding and the Bemidji project with pictures and video that have documented the projects for all the folks back home.  Cadet Schrader said, "I like to take pictures so that we can share with others what helping in a flood looks like and have memories of our CAP projects."

"We have really enjoyed helping our neighbors to the West in Fargo, and it was gratifying to be able to help our neighbors here at home too, commented Northland's Commander, Capt. Robin Helgager.
