Civil Air Patrol takes flight with members from the
Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Cass County
Sherriff’s office.
Arlie “A.D” Hill, III from the U.S. Department of Homeland
Security office is an Operations/Planning Specialist for
FEMA and Officer DuWayne Nitschke is a Sergeant for the Cass
County Sherriff’s office. The two took flight with Lt Col
Jay Manley the Squadron Commander of the Red River Valley
Squadron based in Fargo.
It was a twofold mission
for the FEMA representative to look at the current river
levels and damages from the Red River to the roads and
structures and for the Cass County Sergeant Nitshcke to get
a bird’s eye view on the members of Cass County that he is
sworn to protect.
After the flight Sergeant
Nitschke said “we were able to get a really good overhead
view of the amount of water in the county, and some of the
spots that we are going to have to pay particular attention
to when the water rises for the second crest”
Mr. Hill said “The flight
was exactly what we wanted. We were able to see everything
we wanted to see, and it was really positive to have the
pilots prospective and knowledge of the area and information
from previous flights flown” He went on to say the “flight
worked out perfectly”.
