Purpose: This workshop was a simulated mission where Information Officers and Trainees will learn about the role of an Information Officer, what an IO does during a mission and how to work with various media. CAP has had several very high profile missions in the past few years and it is very important to have qualified information officers on the ground to assist Incident Commanders. Getting the right information out at the right time can sometimes mean the success or failure of an actual mission.

Method: Thru the simulated mission IO's and trainees will learn how to prepare for a mission as an IO, learn about and create Mission Press Release and learn about working with the media and participate in media interviews. The simulated mission will occur in the background and the IO's will react to the inputs and create appropriate deliverables (press releases, mission logs, interviews, advice to the IC) to the Incident Commander and the Wing PAO.
